  1. Shaikh Isa Bin Ali House

    Where: Muharraq
    Category: Archaeology/ Heritage


    If you haven’t already, take yourself to the Shaikh Isa Bin Ali house, the residence and seat of the former ruler of Muharraq. Considered one of the most impressive examples of Gulf Islamic architecture in the island, it will also give you a glimpse of royal life in the 19th century.

  2. Al Fateh Grand Mosque

    Where: Juffair
    Category: Heritage/ Religious


    One of the largest mosques in the world, with the capacity to accommodate 7,000 worshippers at one time, this is an iconic site in Bahrain. Throughout the mosque are Kufic calligraphy, considered to be an ancient form of writing. It is also the site of the National Library of Bahrain.

  3. Shaikh Ebrahim Center

    Where: Muharraq
    Category: Heritage


    Named after Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa; a leader in the field of culture, education, and social sciences; the center is now a majlis that has hosted over 200 speakers, philosophers, poets, and thinkers. Check out their website for ongoing events.

  4. Royal Golf Club

    Where: Riffa
    Category: Sports/ Teatime


This award winning golf club is also the place to get social. Usually holding charity events, this is definitely the place to get your swing on. Even if           you’re not a pro, you can still enjoy the greenery. Golf is rumored to be one of the best anti-stress sports ever.

5. Karting at the BIC

Where: Bahrain International Circuit
Category: Sports/ Adrenaline


For a burst of adrenaline, head over to the BIC’s karting circuits and enjoy your day. Kids aged 7 to adults of all ages are welcome on this track, which even hosts big corporate events. With state of the art floodlighting system, you can even hold your events at night.

6. Horse-riding

Where: Many riding schools abound

Horse riding is ubiquitous in Bahrain, with many horse riding stables established in different places. Try your hand at pony-riding. Most stables will outfit you with gloves, a helmet, and will give you a guide on your first lesson. Just be sure to wear jeans and closed shoes.

7. Karate

Where: Many places abound
Category: Sports/ Adrenaline


For some reason, karate is also wildly popular in the Kingdom with many schools of martial arts being taught to kids and adults alike. A lesson in discipline, self-defense, and anti-bullying; its not a bad thing at all to learn the way of the dragon.

8. Tennis

Bahrain has seen many popular tennis events hosted in Bahrain, and many young players being trained in the footsteps of tennis superstars. It’s also a great way to keep fit, if you have a sedentary desk job.

9. Football

Where: Everywhere
Category: Sports


No mention of Bahrain sports is complete without football. Young and old and in-between can discuss at length the merits of Real Madrid or their favorite football star. In fact the AFC U-19 tournament will be held in Bahrain, that’s something that football fans can look forward to.

10. Buffet

After all that adventure, treat yourself to a buffet at Golden Tulip Hotel’s flagship restaurant Al Wasmeyyah, which offers an array of international dishes from its breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets. Basically all-day dining after your Bahrain adventures.
